How do I dare? Where to begin in these two minutes I’m borrowing of your precious time – perhaps the one time in life you’ll ever hear me, read me, or see me – to do what little I can to dismantle as many of their epic lies as I can with what’s left of my strength, of my voice, of my time, my meager words, and what precious life is left? Never enough to fight against the decades and the damage of their violent oppression. And yet perhaps what we do have in common, beyond this moment, beyond your passing glance, is we choose the fighting path. We will not bow our heads at the altar of false wars, won’t drink of their cup… the blood of humankind. They say starve or beg for their poisoned bread. We will not lick the boots of the one percent. We choose the fighting path.
2.
You: A talking head. You: A purchased soul. You: Instrument of oppression. Greed: Your master’s god. Hate: Your chosen weapon. Fear: Your currency and trade. You are nothing. You are nothing. You are nothing. Tell that to the “folks.” Yeah, a talking point. Yeah, you’ll get what’s yours. You’re fucking vile: The Goebbels of our time. The truth in the grave. The blood on your hands. A murderer’s wink. A marionette.
3.
So it is written and so it will be: Henceforth, corporations shall have the rights denied to you and me. Bestowed unto them shall be a life worth more than human life itself. Liberty from regulation, investigation, or prosecution. And the pursuit of power without regard for human suffering. Bow your heads. Pray in the direction of Wall Street. The corporations will now lead us in prayer: Our corporations, which art infallible, hallowed be our trade. Our kingdom is come. Our will be done across Earth as approved by the markets. And forgive us our treason as we vilify those who would speak against us. Lead us not into equality, but deliver them into more poverty. For ours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory of the one percent forever and ever. Personify them. Indemnify them. When they kill, it is not a crime. This new philosophy, Corporate Supremacy, it’s sinking in by the din of freedom’s dying embers. From the dark, they approach in masks sewn of human skin in the Age of Corporate Personhood. Not just some wolf/sheep fable. Not just playing both sides of the table. Democracy cannibalized by the companies it keeps before our eyes. A marginalization of humanity so bold, so grand. A tipping point in a plan to blur the lines, to redefine the world they’ll rule with your gift, a false face of flesh, in the Age of Corporate Personhood. Hail this new ideology. All bow to Corporate Supremacy. Slowly, it sinks in. Another way? Your children won’t remember. Bang the gavel. Bang the gavel. Let them rule what’s left of humanity. Death of democracy. Drop the shroud. Just one ruling to rule them all. Just one ruling to rule them all in the Age of Corporate Personhood. How much worse does it have to get? How many lies can our minds forget? All of us bowing to the new corporate order and their wars, their prisons, their insidious borders. Are we really ready to accept this arrangement that’s designed to let all of us toil and labor just to die in debt for the power and glory of the one percent?

Let’s deconstruct the plot of your star-spangled morality play. Let the stage go black. Let the scenery fall away. When the lights come back your former life is many thousand miles from here. In this foreign land, you see your wife and children cowering in fear. And each year, more horrors; more hunger; more fear. Your homeland’s torn asunder. And innocent, you are, but that doesn’t matter to the people threatening your lives. The law is bought. You’ve got to get away. The law was bought. They had to get away. Deconstruct the plot: Despite your scorn and judgment, you would do the same if that had been your life, if that had been your wife and kids, and not some mental play. You would do the same. Someone once crossed this border carrying your name or you wouldn’t be here today. And innocent, you are, but that doesn’t matter to the people threatening your lives. The law is bought. You’ve got to get away. The law was bought. They had to get away.

Drone Strike 02:02
A silent creature in the night sky goes undetected. A silent picture. A nice guy. He clicks a button. The silent creature, victims in sight, starts raining terror. A silent mother with vacant eyes still holding child as she dies. Drone strike. What have they wrought upon this Earth? Outside your window, back home, a creature hovers. A distant glimmer. Quiet eyes. Prepared to strike. This creature’s silent as it lies in wait to trap you. A web that watches. No escape. You try to get free, but it’s too late. Drone strike. What have they wrought upon this Earth? Whatever happened to “don’t shoot until you see the whites of their eyes”? So, don’t shoot. From Ferguson to the skies, don’t shoot. Warfare dehumanized. Don’t shoot.

Without meaning, there’s no reason. Without reason, there’s no struggle. Without struggle, there’s no justice. Without justice, we’re their prey. Too much at stake for us to relate to empty words and verses. We want song and purpose. We want song and purpose, not just bread and circus. There’s a place where art and logic meet, an intersection of compassion, but not in the life they offer, not in their vast distractions, not in the web of lies they weave to keep us from taking action. Too much at stake for us to relate to empty words and verses. We want song and purpose. Can’t hesitate. Too much at stake. No more empty verses. We want song and purpose. When they fill your mind with nothing, you’ve got nothing to say. And the powers that create the void want things to stay that way. So click, click, click your life away. Slowly let your brain decay through diversion, coercion, diversion, coercion. Yeah, meaningless sermons. Celebrity circuits. Fill up the prisons. Roll out the hearses. Too much at stake for us to relate to empty words and verses. We want song and purpose.

Your life. Their lie. Your life. Their lie. You dream the dreams that line their pockets. Manufactured aspirations masking quiet desperation. No cure for the sinking feeling that your life is their lie. Their lies are your life. Your life is their lie. Their lies are your life. Brands are bandages to mask your pain. They watch you writhe as your hope is drained. You think you’re competing, but you’re just retreating to your role in completing their world without meaning. Content as a pawn in big money’s game, you’re stuck in line from cradle to grave. Who do you hate? What do you crave? Whose name do you whisper when you ask to be saved? Your life is their lie. Their lies are your life. Your life is their lie. Their lies are your life. Cling to the fear that they’ve built up in you. Refuse to believe that when they win, you lose. Dance their dance like you made up the moves. Walk the straight path like there’s no other to choose that does not return you to their definition of your rank, your role, and your position in life. That’s right. Each last decision is subject to their planned revisions. You can’t quite explain, but the facts remain. You say you live your own way. It’s just a plan you obey. You heard something today that kind of got in the way. So tonight, you sit and stir as you turn to her without any words. You begin to accept a thought you tried to reject and you wish you were wrong, but you know you’re correct. It’s a cold hard truth that you didn’t expect. Your life is their lie. Your life is their lie. Your life is their lie. Your life is their lie.

The Harvest 01:13
Corporate cataracts spread. As we age, we view life through their lens. Ancillary emotional constructs spawn endless consumption of products. As night brings the darkness, we start to dream in the context of commerce, and just when our fields seem the calmest, we are the crop that they harvest. Too many of those that resisted and once fought for an autonomous life fall under the blade as we age, cut down by systemic scythe. When life turns to darkness, we start to dream in the context of commerce, and just when our fields seem the calmest, we are the crop that they harvest. Storm clouds ahead, a shadow falls across the heartland. Somewhere an aging rebel surrenders, but in a small town not far from here, young clouded eyes become suddenly clear. It’s time to outpace this vicious cycle. Lightning strikes. A young punk writes, “You can take them, but you can’t have me.”
9.
We’re sick of giving everything to never get enough. We’re sick of being broke so someone else can live it up. Try to get ahead, but your head is in a daze. Our minds and bodies are spent, but we barely get paid. It’s work all the time. Dreams fade to grey. The silent mic. The blank page. Work harder than ever with no respect and low pay. I’m telling you there’s got to be a better way. Yeah, when you’re ready to stand… Solidarity! Unite to have a voice. There’s power in numbers. A new solidarity! Corporate power takes more than its share. You can play by their rules, but when the rules aren’t fair, we end up working for shit. Well, we’ve had enough. A race to the bottom. They tell us to suck it up. They call it “right to work” when they take our rights away. When we unite, we will finally have our say. Teaching class, laying bricks, or stocking the store, together in union we will not be ignored. Yeah, when you’re ready to stand… Solidarity! Unite to have a voice. Yeah, there’s power in numbers. A new solidarity! When you’re ready to stand… Solidarity! Unite to have a voice. Yeah, there’s power in numbers. A new solidarity! It’s that feeling in the air fueled by anger and despair. It’s this look upon our faces. It’s the blankness of our stares. It’s the moment that the pain becomes too much for us to bear, and our eyes regain their focus the moment we become aware that their bottom line is nothing without the labor that we give… Solidarity! That the way that we’ve been living is no goddamn way to live… Solidarity! Tomorrow’s not the time to do what we must do today. Solidarity! We’ve been silent for too long. Now it’s time to have our say. Solidarity! Solidarity! A new solidarity now!

Now or Never 04:47
They’re cutting secret deals. They’re dealing out the cuts. Everything for a few of them and nothing left for us. The overseers of oligarchy, the architects of austerity, they thirst for your silence and total control. It’s now or never. Will you let this moment pass? That’s exactly what they want. And soon the dye is cast. It’s now or never. Stand together for that which won’t return if this tide is not turned. It’s now or never. They’re sewing the seeds for a future of internment in which everyone believes that unfettered corporate power is the answer to our needs, and that we’ll be better off just living on our knees. It’s now or never. Will you let this moment pass? That’s exactly what they want. And soon the dye is cast. It’s now or never. Stand together for that which won’t return if this tide is not turned. The silent destruction of all that you know. The day that their power becomes set in stone. Why are we still angry? It’s because you’re not. Now or never. Why are we still trying? It’s because you’re not. Now or never. Why are we still screaming? It’s because you’re not. Now or never. Why are we still fighting? It’s because you’re not. Now or never.
